There are over 160 different ethnic groups and indigenous peoples in Russia. [263] The country`s vast cultural diversity spans ethnic Russians with their Slavic Orthodox traditions, Tatars and Bashkirs with their Turkic Muslim culture, Buddhist nomadic Buryats and Kalmyks , Shamanistic peoples of the Extreme North and Siberia, highlanders of the Northern Caucasus , and Finno-Ugric peoples of the Russian North West and Volga Region . Handicraft , like Dymkovo toy , khokhloma , gzhel and palekh miniature represent an important aspect of Russian folk culture . Ethnic Russian clothes include kaftan , kosovorotka and ushanka for men, sarafan and kokoshnik for women, with lapti and valenki as common shoes. The clothes of Cossacks from Southern Russia include burka and papaha , which they share with the peoples of the Northern Caucasus. Russian cuisine widely uses fish, poultry, mushrooms, berries, and honey. Crops of rye , wheat, barley , and millet provide the ingredients for various breads, pancakes and cereals, as well as for kvass , beer and vodka drinks. Black bread is rather popular in Russia, compared to the rest of the world. Flavourful soups and stews include shchi , borsch , ukha , solyanka and okroshka . Smetana (a heavy sour cream ) is often added to soups and salads. Pirozhki , blini and syrniki are native types of pancakes. Chicken Kiev , pelmeni and shashlyk are popular meat dishes, the last two being of Tatar and Caucasus origin respectively. Other meat dishes include stuffed cabbage rolls ( golubtsy ) usually filled with meat. [365] Salads include Olivier salad , vinegret and dressed herring . Russia`s large number of ethnic groups have distinctive traditions regarding folk music . Typical ethnic Russian musical instruments are gusli , balalaika , zhaleika , and garmoshka . Folk music had a significant influence on Russian classical composers, and in modern times it is a source of inspiration for a number of popular folk bands , like Melnitsa . Russian folk songs , as well as patriotic Soviet songs , constitute the bulk of the repertoire of the world-renowned Red Army choir and other popular ensembles. Russians have many traditions , including the washing in banya , a hot steam bath somewhat similar to sauna . [55] Old Russian folklore takes its roots in the pagan Slavic religion . Many Russian fairy tales and epic bylinas were adapted for animation films, or for feature movies by the prominent directors like Aleksandr Ptushko ( Ilya Muromets , Sadko ) and Aleksandr Rou ( Morozko , Vasilisa the Beautiful ). Russian poets, including Pyotr Yershov and Leonid Filatov , made a number of well-known poetical interpretations of the classical fairy tales, and in some cases, like that of Alexander Pushkin , also created fully original fairy tale poems of great popularity. Since the Christianization of Kievan Rus` for several ages Russian architecture was influenced predominantly by the Byzantine architecture . Apart from fortifications ( kremlins ), the main stone buildings of ancient Rus` were Orthodox churches with their many domes , often gilded or brightly painted. Aristotle Fioravanti and other Italian architects brought Renaissance trends into Russia since the late 15th century, while the 16th century saw the development of unique tent-like churches culminating in Saint Basil`s Cathedral . [366] By that time the onion dome design was also fully developed. [367] In the 17th century, the "fiery style" of ornamentation flourished in Moscow and Yaroslavl , gradually paving the way for the Naryshkin baroque of the 1690s. After the reforms of Peter the Great the change of architectural styles in Russia generally followed that in the Western Europe. The 18th-century taste for rococo architecture led to the ornate works of Bartolomeo Rastrelli and his followers. The reigns of Catherine the Great and her grandson Alexander I saw the flourishing of Neoclassical architecture , most notably in the capital city of Saint Petersburg . The second half of the 19th century was dominated by the Neo-Byzantine and Russian Revival styles. Prevalent styles of the 20th century were the Art Nouveau , Constructivism , and the Stalin Empire style . With the change in values imposed by communist ideology , the tradition of preservation was broken. Independent preservation societies, even those that defended only secular landmarks such as Moscow-based OIRU were disbanded by the end of the 1920s. A new anti-religious campaign, launched in 1929, coincided with collectivization of peasants; destruction of churches in the cities peaked around 1932. A number of churches were demolished, including the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow. In Moscow alone losses of 1917–2006 are estimated at over 640 notable buildings (including 150 to 200 listed buildings, out of a total inventory of 3,500) – some disappeared completely, others were replaced with concrete replicas. In 1955, a new Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev , condemned the "excesses" of the former academic architecture, [368] and the late Soviet era was dominated by plain functionalism in architecture . This helped somewhat to resolve the housing problem, but created a large quantity of buildings of low architectural quality, much in contrast with the previous bright styles. In 1959 Nikita Khrushchev launched his anti-religious campaign . By 1964 over 10 thousand churches out of 20 thousand were shut down (mostly in rural areas) and many were demolished. Of 58 monasteries and convents operating in 1959, only sixteen remained by 1964; of Moscow`s fifty churches operating in 1959, thirty were closed and six demolished. Karl Bryullov (1799–1852), a key figure in transition from the Russian neoclassicism to romanticism. Early Russian painting is represented in icons and vibrant frescos , the two genres inherited from Byzantium . As Moscow rose to power, Theophanes the Greek , Dionisius and Andrei Rublev became vital names associated with a distinctly Russian art. The Russian Academy of Arts was created in 1757 [369] and gave Russian artists an international role and status. Ivan Argunov , Dmitry Levitzky , Vladimir Borovikovsky and other 18th century academicians mostly focused on portrait painting . In the early 19th century, when neoclassicism and romantism flourished, mythological and Biblical themes inspired many prominent paintings, notably by Karl Briullov and Alexander Ivanov . In the mid-19th century the Peredvizhniki (Wanderers) group of artists broke with the Academy and initiated a school of art liberated from academic restrictions. [370] These were mostly realist painters who captured Russian identity in landscapes of wide rivers, forests, and birch clearings, as well as vigorous genre scenes and robust portraits of their contemporaries. Some artists focused on depicting dramatic moments in Russian history, while others turned to social criticism , showing the conditions of the poor and caricaturing authority; critical realism flourished under the reign of Alexander II . Leading realists include Ivan Shishkin , Arkhip Kuindzhi , Ivan Kramskoi , Vasily Polenov , Isaac Levitan , Vasily Surikov , Viktor Vasnetsov , Ilya Repin , and Boris Kustodiev . The turn of the 20th century saw the rise of symbolist painting, represented by Mikhail Vrubel , Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin , and Nicholas Roerich . The Russian avant-garde was a large, influential wave of modernist art that flourished in Russia from approximately 1890 to 1930. The term covers many separate, but inextricably related art movements that occurred at the time, namely neo-primitivism , suprematism , constructivism , rayonism , and Russian Futurism . Notable artists from this era include El Lissitzky , Kazimir Malevich , Wassily Kandinsky , and Marc Chagall . Since the 1930s the revolutionary ideas of the avant-garde clashed with the newly emerged conservative direction of socialist realism . Soviet art produced works that were furiously patriotic and anti-fascist during and after the Great Patriotic War . Multiple war memorials, marked by a great restrained solemnity, were built throughout the country. Soviet artists often combined innovation with socialist realism, notably the sculptors Vera Mukhina , Yevgeny Vuchetich and Ernst Neizvestny . The Snowdance scene from The Nutcracker ballet, composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Music in 19th century Russia was defined by the tension between classical composer Mikhail Glinka along with other members of The Mighty Handful , who embraced Russian national identity and added religious and folk elements to their compositions, and the Russian Musical Society led by composers Anton and Nikolay Rubinsteins , which was musically conservative. The later tradition of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era , was continued into the 20th century by Sergei Rachmaninoff . [371] World-renowned composers of the 20th century include Alexander Scriabin , Igor Stravinsky , Sergei Prokofiev , Dmitri Shostakovich and Alfred Schnittke . Russian conservatories have turned out generations of famous soloists. Among the best known are violinists Jascha Heifetz , David Oistrakh , Leonid Kogan , Gidon Kremer , and Maxim Vengerov ; cellists Mstislav Rostropovich , Natalia Gutman ; pianists Vladimir Horowitz , Sviatoslav Richter , Emil Gilels , Vladimir Sofronitsky and Evgeny Kissin ; and vocalists Fyodor Shalyapin , Mark Reizen , Elena Obraztsova , Tamara Sinyavskaya , Nina Dorliak , Galina Vishnevskaya , Anna Netrebko and Dmitry Hvorostovsky . [372] During the early 20th century, Russian ballet dancers Anna Pavlova and Vaslav Nijinsky rose to fame, and impresario Sergei Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes ` travels abroad profoundly influenced the development of dance worldwide. [373] Soviet ballet preserved the perfected 19th century traditions, [374] and the Soviet Union`s choreography schools produced many internationally famous stars, including Galina Ulanova , Maya Plisetskaya , Rudolf Nureyev , and Mikhail Baryshnikov . The Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow and the Mariinsky Ballet in St Petersburg remain famous throughout the world. [375] Modern Russian rock music takes its roots both in the Western rock and roll and heavy metal , and in traditions of the Russian bards of the Soviet era, such as Vladimir Vysotsky and Bulat Okudzhava . [376] Popular Russian rock groups include Mashina Vremeni , DDT , Aquarium , Alisa , Kino , Kipelov , Nautilus Pompilius , Aria , Grazhdanskaya Oborona , Splean and Korol i Shut . Russian pop music developed from what was known in the Soviet times as estrada into full-fledged industry, with some performers gaining wide international recognition, such as t.A.T.u. , Nu Virgos and Vitas . In the 18th century, during the era of Russian Enlightenment , the development of Russian literature was boosted by the works of Mikhail Lomonosov and Denis Fonvizin . By the early 19th century a modern native tradition had emerged, producing some of the greatest writers in Russian history. This period, known also as the Golden Age of Russian Poetry , began with Alexander Pushkin , who is considered the founder of the modern Russian literary language and often described as the "Russian Shakespeare". [377] It continued into the 19th century with the poetry of Mikhail Lermontov and Nikolay Nekrasov , dramas of Alexander Ostrovsky and Anton Chekhov , and the prose of Nikolai Gogol and Ivan Turgenev . Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky have been described by literary critics as the greatest novelists of all time. [378] [379] By the 1880s, the age of the great novelists was over, and short fiction and poetry became the dominant genres. The next several decades became known as the Silver Age of Russian Poetry , when the previously dominant literary realism was replaced by symbolism . Leading authors of this era include such poets as Valery Bryusov , Vyacheslav Ivanov , Alexander Blok , Nikolay Gumilev and Anna Akhmatova , and novelists Leonid Andreyev , Ivan Bunin , and Maxim Gorky . Russian philosophy blossomed in the 19th century, when it was defined initially by the opposition of Westernizers , who advocated Western political and economical models, and Slavophiles , who insisted on developing Russia as a unique civilization. The latter group includes Nikolai Danilevsky and Konstantin Leontiev , the founders of eurasianism . In its further development Russian philosophy was always marked by a deep connection to literature and interest in creativity, society, politics and nationalism; Russian cosmism and religious philosophy were other major areas. Notable philosophers of the late 19th and the early 20th centuries include Vladimir Solovyev , Sergei Bulgakov , and Vladimir Vernadsky . Following the Russian Revolution of 1917 many prominent writers and philosophers left the country, including Bunin, Vladimir Nabokov and Nikolay Berdyayev , while a new generation of talented authors joined together in an effort to create a distinctive working-class culture appropriate for the new Soviet state. In the 1930s censorship over literature was tightened in line with the policy of socialist realism . In the late 1950s restrictions on literature were eased, and by the 1970s and 1980s, writers were increasingly ignoring official guidelines. Leading authors of the Soviet era include novelists Yevgeny Zamyatin (emigrated), Ilf and Petrov , Mikhail Bulgakov (censored) and Mikhail Sholokhov , and poets Vladimir Mayakovsky , Yevgeny Yevtushenko , and Andrey Voznesensky . The Soviet Union was also a major producer of science fiction, written by authors like Arkady and Boris Strugatsky , Kir Bulychov , Alexander Belayev and Ivan Yefremov . [380] Traditions of Russian science fiction and fantasy are continued today by numerous writers. Russian and later Soviet cinema was a hotbed of invention in the period immediately following 1917, resulting in world-renowned films such as The Battleship Potemkin by Sergei Eisenstein . [381] Eisenstein was a student of filmmaker and theorist Lev Kuleshov , who developed the Soviet montage theory of film editing at the world`s first film school, the All-Union Institute of Cinematography . Dziga Vertov , whose kino-glaz ("film-eye") theory—that the camera, like the human eye, is best used to explore real life—had a huge impact on the development of documentary film making and cinema realism. The subsequent state policy of socialist realism somewhat limited creativity; however, many Soviet films in this style were artistically successful, including Chapaev , The Cranes Are Flying , and Ballad of a Soldier . [381] The 1960s and 1970s saw a greater variety of artistic styles in Soviet cinema. Eldar Ryazanov `s and Leonid Gaidai `s comedies of that time were immensely popular, with many of the catch phrases still in use today. In 1961–68 Sergey Bondarchuk directed an Oscar -winning film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy`s epic War and Peace , which was the most expensive film made in the Soviet Union. [382] In 1969, Vladimir Motyl `s White Sun of the Desert was released, a very popular film in a genre of ostern ; the film is traditionally watched by cosmonauts before any trip into space. [383] Shukhov Tower on the Oka River served early radio and TV broadcasting. Russian animation dates back to late Russian Empire times. During the Soviet era, Soyuzmultfilm studio was the largest animation producer. Soviet animators developed a great variety of pioneering techniques and aesthetic styles, with prominent directors including Ivan Ivanov-Vano , Fyodor Khitruk and Aleksandr Tatarsky . Many Soviet cartoon heroes such as the Russian-style Winnie-the-Pooh , cute little Cheburashka , Wolf and Hare from Nu, Pogodi! , are iconic images in Russia and many surrounding countries. The late 1980s and 1990s were a period of crisis in Russian cinema and animation. Although Russian filmmakers became free to express themselves, state subsidies were drastically reduced, resulting in fewer films produced. The early years of the 21st century have brought increased viewership and subsequent prosperity to the industry on the back of the economic revival. Production levels are already higher than in Britain and Germany. [384] Russia`s total box-office revenue in 2007 was $565 million, up 37% from the previous year. [385] In 2002 the Russian Ark became the first feature film ever to be shot in a single take. The traditions of Soviet animation were developed recently by such directors as Aleksandr Petrov and studios like Melnitsa Animation . While there were few stations or channels in the Soviet time, in the past two decades many new state and privately owned radio stations and TV channels have appeared. In 2005 a state-run English language Russia Today TV started broadcasting, and its Arabic version Rusiya Al-Yaum was launched in 2007. Censorship and Media freedom in Russia has always been a main theme of Russian media. Soviet and later Russian athletes have always been in the top four for the number of gold medals collected at the Summer Olympics. Soviet gymnasts, track-and-field athletes, weightlifters, wrestlers, boxers, fencers, shooters, cross country skiers, biathletes, speed skaters and figure skaters were consistently among the best in the world, along with Soviet basketball, handball, volleyball and ice hockey players. [386] The 1980 Summer Olympics were held in Moscow while the 2014 Winter Olympics were hosted in Sochi . Russia has the most Olympic medals stripped for doping violations ( 51 ), the most of any country, four times the number of the runner-up, and more than a third of the global total, and 129 athletes caught doping at the Olympics , also the most of any country. From 2011 to 2015, more than a thousand Russian competitors in various sports, including summer, winter, and Paralympic sports, benefited from a state-sponsored cover-up, [387] [388] [389] [390] [391] with no indication that the program has ceased since then. [392] Although ice hockey was only introduced during the Soviet era, the Soviet Union national team managed to win gold at almost all the Olympics and World Championships they contested. Russian players Valery Kharlamov , Sergei Makarov , Vyacheslav Fetisov and Vladislav Tretiak hold four of six positions in the IIHF Team of the Century. [393] Russia has not won the Olympic ice hockey tournament since the Unified Team won gold in 1992. Russia won the 1993 , 2008 , 2009 , [394] 2012 and the 2014 IIHF World Championships . The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) was founded in 2008 as a successor to the Russian Superleague . It is ranked the top hockey league in Europe as of 2009 [update] , [395] and the second-best in the world. [396] It is an international professional ice hockey league in Eurasia and consists of 29 teams, of which 21 are based in Russia and 7 more are located in Latvia , Kazakhstan , Belarus , Finland , Slovakia , Croatia and China . KHL is on the 4th place by attendance in Europe. [397] Bandy , also known as Russian hockey , is another traditionally popular ice sport. [398] The Soviet Union won all the Bandy World Championships for men between 1957–79 [399] and some thereafter too. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia has continuously been one of the most successful teams, winning many world championships. Association football is one of the most popular sports in modern Russia. The Soviet national team became the first European Champions by winning Euro 1960 . Appearing in four FIFA World Cups from 1958 to 1970, Lev Yashin is regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of football, and was chosen on the FIFA World Cup Dream Team . [400] The Soviet national team reached the finals of Euro 1988 . In 1956 and 1988, the Soviet Union won gold at the Olympic football tournament . Russian clubs CSKA Moscow and Zenit St Petersburg won the UEFA Cup in 2005 and 2008. The Russian national football team reached the semi-finals of Euro 2008 , losing only to the eventual champions Spain. Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup , with 11 host cities located in the European part of the country and in the Ural region. [401] In 2007, the Russian national basketball team won the European Basketball Championship . The Russian basketball club PBC CSKA Moscow is one of the top teams in Europe, winning the Euroleague in 2006 and 2008 . Larisa Latynina , who currently holds the record for the most gold Olympic medals won by a woman, established the USSR as the dominant force in gymnastics for many years. [402] Today, Russia is the leading nation in rhythmic gymnastics with Yevgeniya Kanayeva . Double 50m and 100m freestyle Olympic gold medalist Alexander Popov is widely considered the greatest sprint swimmer in history. [403] Russian synchronized swimming is the best in the world, with almost all gold medals at Olympics and World Championships having been swept by Russians in recent decades. Figure skating is another popular sport in Russia, especially pair skating and ice dancing . With the exception of 2010 a Soviet or Russian pair has won gold at every Winter Olympics since 1964. Since the end of the Soviet era, tennis has grown in popularity and Russia has produced a number of famous players, including Maria Sharapova . In martial arts, Russia produced the sport Sambo and renowned fighters, like Fedor Emelianenko . Chess is a widely popular pastime in Russia; from 1927, Russian grandmasters have held the world chess championship almost continuously. [404] The 2014 Winter Olympics were held in Sochi in the south of Russia. In 2016 the McLaren Report found evidence of widespread state-sponsored doping and an institutional conspiracy to cover up Russian competitors` positive drug tests. [405] As of December 1, 2017 25 athletes are disqualified, 11 medals are stripped. Formula One is also becoming increasingly popular in Russia. In 2010 Vitaly Petrov of Vyborg became the first Russian to drive in Formula One, and was soon followed by a second – Daniil Kvyat , from Ufa – in 2014. There had only been two Russian Grands Prix (in 1913 and 1914), but the Russian Grand Prix returned as part of the Formula One season in 2014 , as part of a six-year deal. [406] Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup , this will be the first World Cup ever held in Eastern Europe , and the first held in Europe since 2006. There are seven public holidays in Russia , [407] except those always celebrated on Sunday. Russian New Year traditions resemble those of the Western Christmas, with New Year Trees and gifts, and Ded Moroz ( Father Frost ) playing the same role as Santa Claus . Orthodox Christmas falls on January 7, because the Russian Orthodox Church still follows the Julian calendar , and all Orthodox holidays are 13 days after Western ones. Two other major Christian holidays are Easter and Trinity Sunday . Kurban Bayram and Uraza Bayram are celebrated by Russian Muslims. Further Russian public holidays include Defender of the Fatherland Day (February 23), which honors Russian men, especially those serving in the army; International Women`s Day (March 8), which combines the traditions of Mother`s Day and Valentine`s Day ; Spring and Labor Day (May 1); Victory Day ; Russia Day (June 12); and Unity Day (November 4), commemorating the popular uprising which expelled the Polish occupation force from Moscow in 1612. Victory Day is the second most popular holiday in Russia; it commemorates the victory over Nazism in the Great Patriotic War . A huge military parade , hosted by the President of Russia , is annually organised in Moscow on Red Square . Similar parades take place in all major Russian cities and cities with the status Hero city or City of Military Glory. Popular non-public holidays include Old New Year (the New Year according to the Julian Calendar on January 14), Tatiana Day (students holiday on January 25), Maslenitsa (a pre-Christian spring holiday a week before the Great Lent ), Cosmonautics Day (in tribute to the first human trip into space), Ivan Kupala Day (another pre-Christian holiday on July 7) and Peter and Fevronia Day (which takes place on July 8 and is the Russian analogue of Valentine`s Day, focusing, however, on family love and fidelity). State symbols of Russia include the Byzantine double-headed eagle , combined with St. George of Moscow in the Russian coat of arms . The Russian flag dates from the late Tsardom of Russia period and has been widely used since the time of the Russian Empire . The Russian anthem shares its music with the Soviet Anthem , though not the lyrics. The imperial motto God is with us and the Soviet motto Proletarians of all countries, unite! are now obsolete and no new motto has replaced them. The hammer and sickle and the full Soviet coat of arms are still widely seen in Russian cities as a part of old architectural decorations. The Soviet Red Stars are also encountered, often on military equipment and war memorials. The Red Banner continues to be honored, especially the Banner of Victory of 1945. The Matryoshka doll is a recognizable symbol of Russia, and the towers of Moscow Kremlin and Saint Basil`s Cathedral in Moscow are Russia`s main architectural icons. Cheburashka is a mascot of the Russian national Olympic team . St. Mary , St. Nicholas , St. Andrew , St. George , St. Alexander Nevsky , St. Sergius of Radonezh and St. Seraphim of Sarov are Russia`s patron saints . Chamomile is the national flower , while birch is the national tree . The Russian bear is an animal symbol and a national personification of Russia, though this image has a Western origin and Russians themselves have accepted it only fairly recently. The native Russian national personification is Mother Russia . Tourism in Russia has seen rapid growth since the late Soviet period, first domestic tourism and then international tourism, fueled by the rich cultural heritage and great natural variety of the country. Major tourist routes in Russia include a journey around the Golden Ring of ancient cities, cruises on the big rivers like the Volga , and long journeys on the famous Trans-Siberian Railway . In 2013, Russia was visited by 28.4 million tourists ; it is the ninth most visited country in the world and the seventh most visited in Europe. [408] The number of Western visitors dropped in 2014. [409] The most visited destinations in Russia are Moscow and Saint Petersburg, the current and former capitals of the country. Recognized as World Cities , they feature such world-renowned museums as the Tretyakov Gallery and the Hermitage , famous theaters like Bolshoi and Mariinsky , ornate churches like Saint Basil`s Cathedral, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour , Saint Isaac`s Cathedral and Church of the Savior on Blood , impressive fortifications like the Kremlin and Peter and Paul Fortress , beautiful squares and streets like Red Square , Palace Square , Tverskaya Street , Nevsky Prospect , and Arbat Street . Rich palaces and parks are found in the former imperial residences in suburbs of Moscow ( Kolomenskoye , Tsaritsyno ) and St Petersburg ( Peterhof , Strelna , Oranienbaum , Gatchina , Pavlovsk and Tsarskoye Selo ). E-mail address jd@artdesign.ru was at least one day owner of imgsrc.ru on December 28, 2010. This e-mail address is also used to register domain name jdwuzhere.ru. This domain name is used in the following profile on imgsrc.ru: Notice that this user jd wuz here is created on January 11, 2006 – so also one of the first users of imgsrc.ru. I searched Google for hits on jdwuzhere and hit jackpot. This is the FourSquare account of Zlata Fedulova, one of the other deanonymized owners of imgsrc.ru. Zlata’s FourSquare account has a link to Twitter account @zlatafedulova  which has also the name ‘Zlata Fedulova’ set. I’ve now confirmed that the FourSquare account of jdwuzhere is connected to account  zlatafedulova , and thus indirect to imgsrc.ru. This is important, because the FourSquare account from jdwuzhere links to Twitter account @jdwuzhere . This Twitter account has set the same profile photo of an Instagram profile from user jdwuzhere . This Instagram profile displays the real name of the user: Vladimir Sopot (look at the right bottom of the screenshot): There is also a Facebook profile with username jdwuzhere that’s from Vladimir Sopot: jdwuzhere@gmail.com is owner of imgsec.ru, a domain name that redirects all traffic to imgsrc.ru. imgsec.ru resolves to the same IP address as imgsrc.ru: 87.242.72.143. This means that imgsec.ru is hosted on the same server as imgsrc.ru. A hacker friend of mine validated this deanonymization research and drafted the following diagram to map the relations found: With this overview in hand we can now conclude that the third owner of imgsrc.ru is Vladimir Sopot. One of the developers of the site in Skinny Bravo. He’s the public figure behind the site. Via the website www.archive.org it is possible to look how a website looked like in the past. The Internet Archive is a non-profit organization that archives webpages on the internet. The following screenshot is from one of the first posts on imgsrc.ru by someone named Skinny in June 2006: Skinny is also mentioned as ATR.skinny in the copyright statement in the site’s footer. From almost the whole period between September 2008 until December 2010 the e-mail address skinny.bravo@gmail.com was linked as owner of imgsrc.ru according to archived whois records from DomainTools. This is probably also the e-mail address from the official imgsrc.ru‘s spokesperson named ‘skinny’. Skinny Bravo has a profile on imgsrc.ru: This profile is created on November 25, 2005 and thus must be one of the first profiles ever created on imgsrc.ru. Unfortunately the e-mail address associated with this profile is hidden. This was not always the case. The Google cache of Skinny’s profile page on imgsrc.ru shows that at one time in history the e-mail address support@imgsrc.ru was used by Skinny: support@imgrc.ru is also the e-mail address used to register ownership of imgsrc.ru on December 29, 2010. The Internet Archive has a copy of a webpage from April 28, 2006 about an XML interface to imgsrc.ru: It translates in English to: “Comments and suggestions about this XML interface can be sent to isrc@mail.ru.” In the footer ATR.skinny & ATR.shaitan is shown as owners of the site. Skinny also has a Twitter profile @skinny_bravo  but doesn’t use it: The password reset function of his Twitter account reveals the following e-mail address that is linked as a back-up account: is**@m**.** is probably isrc@mail.ru, the e-mail address listed on imgsrc.ru in 2006 as owner of the site’s API. The password reset functionality of mail.ru reveals a back-up e-mail address for iscr@mail.ru: The back-up address for iscr@mail.ru is ski*********@gmail.com, which probably is skinny.bravo@gmail.com. ATR.skinny & ATR.shaitan are mentioned as owners in the footer of imgsrc.ru in 2006. The developer(s) of the API for imgsrc.ru used iscr@mail.ru as public address for support. Twitter account @skinny_bravo first tweet was about imgsrc.ru. The Twitter password reset functionality shows that @skinny_bravo used iscr@mail.ru as back-up mail address. The mail.ru password reset functionality shows that skinny.bravo@gmail.com is used as back-up mail address. Whois records show that skinny.bravo@gmail.com was linked as the owner of imgsrc.ru, imgsrc.su and imsgrc.ru. In Skinny’s profile on imgsrc.ru a link is visible to his weblog hosted on livejournal.com. This weblog doesn’t seem to contain any content. But it did in the past according to archived webpages by the Internet Archive: In above post from November 2006 Skinny is complaining that people attack his site because of its “pedophilic orientation”. This confirms that it’s probably a pedophile site from the start, and not something from recent years. In October 2008 it looked like imgsrc.ru was dumped by their webhosting provider and had a hard time finding a new home. Skinny asked all kinds of webhosting companies to host his site, but got rejected by quite a few webhosters: The Internet Archive shows us also that imgsrc.ru started in 2005 and managed to stay alive over the years: Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything more useful on Skinny. Since 2005 the owners behind imgsrc.ru remained anonymous. Until now. Some of them made critical mistakes in using the e-mail address and nickname associated with imgsrc.ru on social networks they use in their normal daily lives. I could deanonymize three owners of imgsrc.ru: skinny.bravo@gmail.com and instronkoreas@yahoo.com still remain anonymous based on my open source intelligence hunting. That updated owner table of imgsrc.ru: Remember the scary anti-virus notification I got when initially navigating to imgsrc.ru? When this happened I immediately investigated what was going on. Kaspersky flagged a downloaded JavaScript file as a trojan horse (HEUR:Trojan.Script.Generic) when I first navigated to imgsrc.ru. The malware was loaded from: This malicious file is included in every page on imgsrc.ru: 12 out of 67 virus scanners mark the file as malware. Symantec classifies the file as PUA.JScoinminer. This file looks very sketchy! The JavaScript code flagged as malware is from coinhive.com. According to their website the JavaScript does the following: “Coinhive offers a JavaScript miner for the Monero Blockchain that you can embed in your website. Your users run the miner directly in their Browser and mine XMR for you in turn for an ad-free experience, in-game currency or whatever incentives you can come up with.” Coinhive is a service that takes a commission of 30 procent and let’s users via JavaScript use the cpu of site visitors to mine the crypto currency Monero. Malware Bytes says the following about Coinhive: “Cryptocurrency miners [such as Coinhive, red.] are usually VERY resource intensive. This is because you are asking your system to do immense calculations it probably wasn’t designed to do, quickly, which is fine if you’ve got the hardware for it. But if you are running a 10-year-old system you bought off the shelf, it could not only decrease the speed and efficiency of your system, but  even damage the hardware . Over the years, we’ve observed miners also included with sketchy software and malware, as a means to make more money for the people behind this kind of garbage software. [..] We do not claim that CoinHive is malicious, or even necessarily a bad idea. The concept of allowing folks to opt-in for an alternative to advertising, which has been plagued by everything from fake news to malvertising, is a noble one. The execution of it is another story. The reason we block CoinHive is because there are site owners who do not ask for their users’ permission to start running CPU-gorging applications on their systems. [..]” This malware doesn’t seem to be really bad and only consumes the cpu and electricity of your computer. I contacted CoinHive and reported that they financially support a large pedophile site with their service. They investigated the site and replied: “We’ve disabled their account and will no longer be supporting them. We’ll do our best to remove our code from their site. However, we can not force them.” Great! They dropped their customer: imgsrc.ru will not longer earn money via their crypto miner. Good news! Update January 3, 2017: How much money do they earn with mining? Security researcher Troy Mursch ( @bad_packets ) did research on CoinHive. He published in November 2017 excellent research , and found out that CoinHive is used on 30,000+ sites. I asked him to calculate what imgsrc.ru would earn for running the Monero crypto miner on their site: * note for ‘rate/1 million hashes’ setting: Coinhive’s current published rate is used. Also note that this calculation is based on 17.3 million visitors a month. Not every visitor will have JavaScript turned on, and some ad blockers and anti-virus products will also block Coinhive. According to Troy, imgsrc.ru earns 27.77 Monero (XMR) per month. 27.77 XMR can be exchanged for $10,455: Curious to see if imgsrc.ru removed the CoinHive JavaScript code, I checked their site again: it’s removed! Someone sent me a Twitter message that he noticed that the CoinHive code was removed within 24 hours. That’s really quick! imgsrc.ru is now cut off their revenu of $10,000+ a month! Excellent! Now that I’ve found one of the biggest pedophile sites on earth and traced three of its owners, what’s next? I called the research redaction of RTL News to help me with this investigating, and to report the site to the authorities. They also did their research and spoke with Interpol, Europol, the Dutch police and the Dutch Hotline for child pornography (Meldpunt Kinderpornografie). Interpol didn’t want to comment on the site and Europol says they don’t work with the Russians. The Dutch police and Dutch Hotline for child pornography both are very well aware of imgsrc.ru. When RTL News told the police that we traced three owners of the site, they didn’t seem to be really interested in it. They say there is little they can do because the site is based in Russia and collaboration with Russia is politically complicated. They say they monitor the end-user usage of the site and if it involves Dutch children. They didn’t want to say anything further about how monitoring was performed and what the results so far were. I didn’t expect that reaction! That doesn’t sound very ambitious to me! Why catch a few of the millions of end-users on the site, if you can stop the site altogether by catching the owners of the site? Why are police forces around the world tolerating this site for over 11 year? Now that this story is published, I hope that Russian authorities step in and take responsibility. During this research I closely worked together with research journalists Bart van den Berg and Koen de Regt from RTL News. They published the following story on national Dutch Tv about the phenomenon: Pedophiles exchange millions of photos of Facebook and Instagram on a Russian site on a large scale. This was the discovery of RTL Nieuws’s research editors, who studied the shadowy barter trade of children’s photos. The Image Search site is not hidden on the dark web, but is simply accessible to everyone on the internet. At first glance, Image Search looks like a bona fide site to share photos, as it can on the better-known Flickr or Picasa. However, an analysis by security researcher Sijmen Ruwhof shows that there are mainly photos of children on it. There are almost 3 million, and there are dozens added every day. Most children’s photos are innocent in themselves. Often the holiday snapshots of children on the beach, in the playground or at the swimming pool that have been put online by parents or children. But they are all provided with sexually tinted titles such as ‘Cute 15yo dutch girl, nice boobs’ or ‘super hot Dutch boy’ and explicit comments. Also on the site e-mail addresses are exchanged and calls are made to share more material. We can imagine that you want to see if your children’s photos are on Image Search. A visit to the site is strongly discouraged by the police. The site also contains material that is classified as child pornography by the police. Collecting, downloading and even just viewing this material is punishable. [..] Due to the existence of these types of sites, the police have been warning for some time to be careful with pictures of children. Security researcher Ruwhof is surprised that this happens in all openness and undisturbed. “You can just take your smartphone with you, and you can view those photos, it’s so accessible that I’m really shocked,” says Ruwhof. On the site are estimated hundreds of pictures of Dutch children. The research editors of RTL Nieuws traced a mother of one of those children. She wants to remain anonymous. These are photos that her daughter placed on her own Facebook page when she was 13 years old. The mother says it is ‘terrible’ to find that ‘innocent photos are misused in this way’. The Dutch police know the Russian site and says that besides innocent children’s photos also prohibited child pornographic material is hosted there. Nevertheless, the police have not taken any action yet. “We have to choose: if it takes us a lot of time and a lot of work to investigate these kinds of sites, where we do not know yet if we will be successful, the question is always: should we not use that research capacity to investigate cases from which we know upfront that there’s active abuse?”, says national coordinator Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism Ben van Mierlo against RTL News. An additional problem in dealing with this type of sites is that a lot of material is not child pornography according to the law. “They do not do punishable things under Dutch law, even though we find this very undesirable and unpalatable, it is not something that is punishable,” says Arda Gerkens, director of the Child Porn Reporting Center, who regularly receives reports about the site. However, individual users of the site have occasionally been prosecuted. For example, RTL News’s research editors found a lawsuit from 2015 against a man from Deventer [Dutch city, red.]. He offered child pornography on Image Search. An Italian priest would also have been active on the site. He maintained contact with members of a child porn network through Image Search, of which he would be a part of. In the United States, three users of the site have been convicted for possession of child pornography. I was called by Marc Klifman from Belgium news paper Nieuwsblad who read my research. He contacted various Belgium authorities and wrote the following story (automatically translated via  Google Translate ): On the Russian website Image Search, pedophiles exchange stolen child photos from Facebook and Instagram, as well as numerous photo’s of Belgian children, along with dirty comments from perverted adults.” The photos are open to everyone. “The Federal Police and Child Focus started an investigation. “The website seems innocent, but it is only a cover for pedophiles to freely share child pornography,” experts say. Beautiful images of cities and nature appear on the homepage. But whoever clicks a little further, soon notices that pedophiles have been exchanging stolen photos of Facebook in Instagram for many years. It suffices to enter the term ‘Belgium’ or ‘Belgian’, and immediately photo series of Belgian children and young women appear. The album ‘Belgian Summer Camp’ is a collection of photos of children in swimwear at summer camp. Among the photos, registered users of the site from different countries place dirty comments below the photos. Most child photos are innocent. Often the snapshots of children playing on the beach, in the playground or at the swimming pool that parents or children have put online themselves”, says Dutch IT security expert Sijmen Ruwhof, who did research on the site. “But in practice this is just a cover for pedophiles who come to exchange child pornography on this site.” According to the specialist, 73 percent of the images on the site consist of children’s photos. “The visitors to this website are therefore not interested in looking at beautiful snapshots of the city of Brussels”, says Ruwhof. “Their comments also say enough. They copy children’s photos that they find on social media, place them in a completely different context and invite other people to give dirty comments. ” According to Ruwhof there are also many albums on the site that are only accessible with a password for pedophiles. “It’s no longer about innocent child photos, but about child pornographic material,” he says. The Russian website has existed since 2005 and is growing every year in terms of number of visitors and registered users. Justice services worldwide know the problems. However, Ruwhof thinks that there is hardly any action. “Nobody intervenes. The American FBI is not, the Dutch police are not. It will be your child who you suddenly discover that his or her picture is on a website full of pedophiles. Unfortunately nothing is being done about it. Perhaps because the owners of the website are Russians and that it is diplomatically difficult. ” The federal police in our country received the information about the new Belgian children’s photos yesterday via our editorial staff and will investigate the images. “We know this website and have acted against it in the past”, says Yves Goethals, section child abuse officer at the federal police. “Last year we made arrests in this case. In the beginning this website was primarily a place where visual material was exchanged. But now the site is becoming more and more a place where first contacts are made, with pedophiles spreading images later in other places.” According to Goethals, there is a lot of cooperation at international level to combat the problem. “The information that now emerges can mean the start of a larger investigation, which can later lead to house searches and convictions.” Strictly speaking, according to the federal police, this is not a child pornography website, but a forum for exchanging photos. Visiting the website is not punishable, but placing compromising, stolen images or inappropriate comments is. Child Focus has also started an investigation into the images with Belgian children on the Russian website. “It is very clear that some photos on this website are not placed for their aesthetic quality, but with a different intention,” says spokesman Dirk Depover. “It is highly objectionable that these photos are misused to release feelings of lust and power from certain people. I can imagine that if parents discover this, they would be very shocked about it. Rightly so.” Child Focus encourages people and associations to be particularly careful about what images they put on social media. “Take note of which photos you publicly share. Adjust your privacy settings beforehand, because if you ignore that, anyone in the world can do what they want with those photos.” “[..] This morning it appeared that the Belgian police and Child Focus will do research, because there are also photos of Belgian children on the site. There would also have been ten arrests in Belgium. However, this does not bring the Dutch police to other thoughts. A spokesperson let RTL News know that the Dutch child pornography team remains in its position. Questioning these types of sites would be too much work with uncertain outcome. The Dutch police prefer to spend their time on combating current abuse. A parliamentary majority of CDA, VVD, PvdA and SP is not satisfied with that. “Regular photos are mixed with child pornographic material, which is terrifying, and I think that should be countered,” says Madeleine van Toorenburg (CDA). Coalitist VVD wants clarification from the minister about the attitude of the Dutch police. “That the Belgians have started an investigation, I understand, especially if this could lead to traffickers being trapped in child pornography, for example.” I want to know what considerations are playing in the Netherlands “, says Foort van Oosten (VVD) Opposition parties SP and PvdA go a step further. They want the Dutch police to follow the way the Belgians react. “If there are concrete indications about this Russian site, the police must intervene. I would like to know from the minister why the Dutch police, unlike the Belgian colleagues, don’t take action”, says Atje Kuiken (PvdA). “The police must reconsider the decision not to start an investigation, and if there is no capacity, they should let us know”, says Michiel van Nispen (SP). The CDA also wants that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacts Russia about the matter. “The site is managed by sick minds who allow child pornography and all kinds of miserable texts to be placed”, says Van Toorenburg. “I think Russia also wants to have children safely”. Questions from Dutch political party CDA for the minister of Safety and Justice: Today the Dutch Tv program Wakker Nederland talks about imgsrc.ru . Member of Parliament Madeleine van Toorenburg (CDA) wants that the Russian authorities take the site down: Rough transcript of relevant comments from Madeleine van Toorenburg: Host: “Parents have to think much more consciously about what kinds of pictures they put of their children on social media, according to CDA [political party, red.]. Recently, it became clear that photos of Dutch children, among others, turned up on a Russian child pornography website. Mrs. van Toorenburg (second-chamber member CDA). This is a horrible story. RTL News brought this news. How does this story go exactly? On first sight Image Search looks like a normal photo website.” Van Toorenburg: “And in the end this Russian site turns out to be a repository of a about 3 million so-called innocent child photos. A whole circle of pedophiles is watching these photos.” Host: “The photos themselves are actually just vacation photos copied from social media, no incriminating photos. It’s all about the comments below the photo’s?” Van Toorenburg: “It’s the comments, but there are also child pornographic pictures hosted on the site. The site contains all sorts of pictures of children, with dirty comments below them. The [Dutch, red.] police says: “Do not go to this site and check if your children’s photos are on it. Because there are also very different kinds of images on it, and then you are actually looking at pedophile oriented photos on this horrible site. You should not do that.” I think that it’s important that the police are going to look at what they can do against Image Search, and also what Russia is doing against this site. There’s actually nothing going on now. I think this is important enough to do something against it. So I also ask questions to the responsible minister to see if Russia, maybe together with the Netherlands and Belgium can act against this site. There are a lot of pictures of European children on that site.” Amélie Quentel from LesInrocks (French media) called me about my research. She’s written an in-depth article about it. Swiss Tv channel RTS Info skyped me to talk about about my latest research regarding imgsrc.ru: Thibault Prévost from Motherboard made a nice write-up of the story so far. RTL News called the Russian internet watchdog Roskomnadzor and asked them about imgsrc.ru. They wrote the article below (automatically translated by Google Translate): The Russian internet watchdog Roskomnadzor has found more than 2,000 times child pornography on the photo website Image Search since 2013. That is what a spokesman told RTL News. On the site are estimated hundreds of pictures of Dutch children. The research editors of RTL Nieuws revealed earlier that this Russian website for sharing photos is a cover for pedophiles. They exchange children’s photos on a large scale. Most photos are innocent and have been put on social media by children and parents. Pedophiles secretly copy these photos, place them on Image Search and provide them with sexually tinted texts. The photos are then exchanged for prohibited child pornographic material. Since 2013 Roskomnadzor has received 3,465 reports of child pornography on Image Search. The reports came from citizens and government bodies. In 2,006 cases it has been established that this concerns prohibited material. The owner of the Image Search site removed 1,998 URLs with prohibited content. Forbidding the site, goes too far, says the Russian internet watchdog. According to a spokesperson, the lion’s share of the photos on the site is innocent: it is mainly images of nature, family life, events and travel. An analysis of security researcher Sijmen Ruwhof previously showed that this is not true. Two thirds of the photos are stolen child photos: a total of about 2.8 million. The amount of banned child pornography is not known. Because there are hundreds of photographs of Dutch children on the site, the House of Representatives wants the government to take action. Tomorrow morning the House will discuss this with ministers Grapperhaus and Dekker of Justice and Security. Born Anna Vasil’yevna Kushchyenko, Miss Chapman adopted her Anglophone surname after marrying British former public schoolboy Alex Chapman - who she claims to have fallen for because he looked like Liam Gallagher. Her intelligence career came to an abrupt in June 2010 when, along with her nine colleagues she was arrested in New York City an FBI counter-intelligence swoop. Since her deportation back to her home country in July of that year - in a dramatic, Cold War-style prisoner swap - she has cultivated a kind of celebrity in keeping with the Putin-esque national cult of a young, strong Russia. Last month she appeared on the catwalk at Russian Fashion Week in Moscow clothed in a skin-tight leather ensemble which would not look out of place in a James Bond film. She was greeted by rapturous applause by fans who had gathered for the 9pm show for French label I Love Fashion. While many of the other models wore feminine dresses Chapman modelled a studded leather jacket, skinny black jeans and towering stilettos from the autumn / winter collection.

The name of the source behind Gawker’s widely-criticized article claiming that the brother of former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner paid for gay sex is Leif Derek Truitt, from Austin, Texas. The Daily Caller reached the 33-year-old Truitt by phone late Thursday, shortly after Gawker published its hit piece. Truitt, who works as an escort and as a porn star under the name Brodie Sinclair, did not directly confirm that he is the source of Gawker’s article, which was aimed at David Geithner, the chief financial officer of the media company, Condé Nast. But numerous circumstantial clues Truitt provided, comments he made, and clues from the Gawker article match information he has posted on his social media accounts and in male escort advertisements. One strong clue was published by the website Got News , which discovered that an escort ad published by Truitt to the escort site HourBoy includes the same image as the one Gawker’s source claims he texted to Geithner. Picture “Ryan” allegedly sent to David Geithner and posted online by Leif Truitt. Truitt also responded directly to questions about the Gawker article. “Let me ask you question,” Truitt said to TheDC during the phone interview. “Do you think the Geithner family is an upstanding family? Do you think they’re honest people? You should do your research.” Asked why he chose to go to Gawker with the information about Geithner, Truitt said “it’s a long story.” “Gawker — I feel they’re brave,” he said. “They have their own reasons to be brave. They go against anybody. As long as it’s the truth, they’ll get it out. Doesn’t matter what it is.” In the article, Truitt is given the pseudonym “Ryan.” According to Gawker, “Ryan” provided text messages and other information that he claimed showed that Geithner, who has a wife, had agreed to pay him $2,500 for sex. “Ryan” told Gawker that Geithner sent him $1,250 in cash through the mail before a scheduled meet-up that was to take place in Chicago on July 11. Gawker published screenshots of the text messages, one of which allegedly was a selfie sent by Geithner. Geithner told Gawker he did not know who “Ryan” was. After allegedly receiving the money, Truitt — or “Ryan” — said he decided to cross-reference Geithner’s phone number (“Ryan” said Geithner declined to provide his last name). “Ryan” reportedly discovered Geithner’s family ties and figured he could use the connection to help settle an ongoing housing dispute with his former landlord in Texas. “Ryan” told Gawker that his landlord claimed he was being evicted because he had a service dog that he needed for PTSD. But “Ryan” believed that he was given the boot because of his work in gay porn. Records show that Truitt had a lien placed against him in September 2013, by Alexen Vistas, an apartment complex in Austin. “Ryan” told Gawker he had taken his discrimination case to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) but that the agency found no probable cause to investigate. Truitt then contacted his senator, Ted Cruz. According “Ryan,” Cruz’s office notified him in May that nothing more could be done on his case. So “Ryan” reportedly asked Geithner to look at his paperwork in hopes he’d use his family’s influence to help with his case. Geithner allegedly looked at some of the documents but was confused about what “Ryan” wanted. Geithner allegedly later texted “Ryan” to say that he’d be unable to make it to their planned meeting in Chicago. So that’s when “Ryan” contacted Gawker. The publication of the article set off a massive firestorm on Twitter. Most critics pointed out that the story was beyond the pale because Geithner is not a public figure. Others pointed out that Gawker has attacked other outlets for “outing” people. In the article, the gossip website mentioned that “Ryan’s” Facebook page “contains a number of videos and photographs advocating for a variety of conspiracy theories.” But that characterization doesn’t even scratch the surface. In addition to endorsing conspiracy theories, Truitt’s Facebook page indicates he has an apocalyptic worldview. In one video he spots a jet flying overhead and claims it is the military testing a nuclear ballistic shield protecting the U.S. Other posts show Truitt believes that 9/11 was carried out by the Russian government. In another video, in which he calls President Barack Obama the “son of the Devil,” Truitt says that since 1980 the numbers “6-6-6” have been drawn 25 times in the Illinois state pick-three lottery. Truitt claimed that Obama spoke publicly on 11 of the days on which those numbers were drawn, evidence of some evil of some sort. “I already figured it out. You were giving a speech 11 times,” Truitt says in the video. “Dirtbag,” he calls Obama. “That is a fact.” TheDC called the Austin-based phone number listed on Truitt’s numerous escort advertisements. The sex worker’s conspiratorial verve was evident in the interview. When asked about the Gawker story, Truitt said: “I have some information that you can publish regarding national security information. I think it’s a lot bigger than what you’re talking about.” “It’s more than just the stuff about HUD [Housing and Urban Development]?” TheDC asked. “Yeah, oh yeah,” Truitt said. “This is a small story compared to other stories. This is a drop in the bucket.” “I’m just a guy who is tired of injustice and corruption,” he said numerous times. Asked again about his dispute with his ex-landlord and with HUD’s refusal to take his case, Truitt said “now I’m at war with my own government.” Truitt is an Army veteran who served a tour in Iraq, he told TheDC. Pictures on Truitt’s Facebook page show him wearing an Army uniform. Truitt also urged TheDC to contact both Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky. He said that both of the Republicans would be able to provide more details about what information he’s provided them. Truitt did describe what the information might be, but he did say: “I’m the guy that is responsible for leaking the information to the families of the 9/11 victims.” He also claimed that based on that information — which he declined to describe — Paul will soon open up an investigation. “Money’s not the objective,” Truitt said. Instead, providing and sharing information is his goal. “Unfortunately, I’m just a guy who has a lot of information. I wish I didn’t,” he said, ticking off a list of major incidents he claims to have inside information about. Besides 9/11 he said he knows who was behind Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 which disappeared last March. He also said he knows who is responsible for the Amtrak crash which killed eight people in Pennsylvania in May. Records show that Truitt has several arrests on his record. Two are for assault of the family violence variety. One of those arrests came in December 2001. The other came in March 2007. In November 2002, he was arrested for theft by check. Truitt, under the stage name Brodie Sinclair, is featured in numerous gay porn movies. He has also posted numerous ads to various escort websites such as Backpage.com. In a typical ad, he describes himself as looking like actors Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon. In one ad he claims he charges $700 per hour.
